Who am I

My name is Sammi and I am an illustrator. I graduated from NIU with an illustration degree in 2022 and plan to start an art business.

What is the art

I love making fantastical and colorful illustrations and wish to do more sculpture as well.
I also enjoy creative writing and am in the process of publishing a poetry book.

The digital illustrations on this site are mostly new. Most of the animation stuff is as well.
Most of my poetry is varied in terms of when it was written.
The fractals I made are a venture into nostalgialand and are from my teenage years but I thought they'd be fun to put.
The photographs, abstract things (not fractals), and collages are from a long time ago, so another venture into nostalgialand.
I posted them to give a sense of my timeline. I'd like to do more photography and collages.
Sculpture and traditional art are to be posted.

How do these things apply to my artistic journey

So a lot of the stuff I enjoy is colorful, psychedelic, cartoonish sometimes, mystical, kawaii (ie. toebeans) and retrofuturistic which
shows up in a lot of the shows and sounds I enjoy (weird sci-fi, electronica music and spacerock music etc)
and the things I enjoy are recurring motifs in my artwork which is a smorgasborg of dreamlike experiences
compartmentalized into subconscious extrapolations

There's an intuitive realm combining a lot of the elements I enjoy
